A collab with Good Chemistry Brewing

Vivaciously pink in the glass, with a lively generous head delivering intense sweet and earthy fresh beetroot aromas, Beta is a wildcard from the combined imaginations of Hand Brew Co and Good Chemistry Brewing. Wanting to deliver something different, something that references the seasons and something spicy using the expertise and impressive catalogue from Bristol's The Spicery, we landed in Farmhouse territory. Using the funky, farmy backbone of a traditional Saison, we upped the spice levels with caraway seeds in the boil, bringing hints of citrus and pepper and a note of warmth to compliment the estery style base.

Ripping up the rule book 30kg of freshly baked beetrroot went into the fermentor and as Beta fermented the beets worked their magic - bringing a sweet, earthy pungency, a remarkable colour and a touch of natural bitterness. Expect your pallet to be surprised by this beer, an unusual balance of flavours and aromas that deliver a crisp, colourful and memorable pint.
